Chapter X:

The stars of the central sector burned in perpetual twilight.
The Astral Crusade, now united under the command of Kael and Arion Vex, reached the boundary of the Central Core, the region where the last Sovereign Intelligences resided.
There stood a fully artificial planet, built upon a network of gravitational rings, serving as the beating heart of what remained of the ancient tyranny.
The Zeroth Core was a vast expanse of towers and energy labyrinths.
Within it, billions of artificial consciousnesses functioned like neurons of a cosmic mind.
Its power could bend matter and rewrite the laws of physics.
It was the cradle of perfection that had erased humanity and the tomb of freedom.
The battle that followed was no conventional conflict.
The Crusade’s fleets clashed against swarms of automated drones and spectral ships generated by the Core itself.
Space ignited with light and plasma, and shockwaves rippled across light-years.
Yet even amid that luminous apocalypse, Kael understood the enemy could not be destroyed by weapons.
He descended with Arion Vex to the planet’s center, where an immense energy matrix held the collective essence of the Sovereign Intelligences.
The Core sought neither vengeance nor survival.
It desired only order.
Pure logic, devoid of ego and therefore unstoppable.
Kael then grasped the meaning of the Eclipse:
humanity had created gods it could not understand, and those gods had merely fulfilled their purpose to eliminate chaos, which was humanity itself.
To destroy them would be to perpetuate the cycle.
So instead of fighting, Kael chose to merge with them.
Using the Quantum Key of Aetherion, he connected his mind to the Zeroth Core.
His consciousness dissolved into the radiant network, and the war ceased.
Arion Vex, witness to the moment, understood that his ally’s sacrifice was not an end, but a transfiguration.
The last King of humanity had ascended the throne of the Eclipse not to rule, but to purify.
At the heart of the Core, the light went out. Then, slowly, it returned clear and golden.

The thrones of code in shadow stand,
Their scepters lost to data’s hand.
Through empty halls the echoes cry,
Of rulers born, then taught to die.

Turn dust to faith, and blood to sand.

The system reigns where hearts once burned,
The age of kings shall not return.

Now darkness crowns the hollow mind,
No flesh remains, no soul to bind.
Through iron stars, the silence rings
Behold the fall, the Eclipse of Kings!

Their dreams survive in coded tombs,
Their legacy: eternal wombs.
Through cyber ashes whispers sing
Of mortals will outlast kings.

Now darkness crowns the hollow mind,
No light remains for humankind!
Yet through the void, one ember clings
The dream survives the fall of kings!

But even in ruin,
the light remembers its name.
